Oh Mr. Bluebird On My Shoulder

January 28th, 2010

I recently finished a project made from one of the fabrics from my Sneak Peak post a couple of days ago.  It was a special order that was shipped out on Monday, so I wanted to wait until I got confirmation that the package arrived safely before talking about it … but … I must share it now!

Introducing the Mr. Bluebird Apron and matching Potholder!

When Heather told me she would like something with bright blues, I knew this was the fabric for her!  I absolutely fell in love with this print.  And thankfully, I have a stash of sizable scraps leftover … so you’ll most likely be seeing something made of this fabric in my online shop (coming soon!).

To go along with this charming apron, I added a little surprise, a potholder!

Posting these pictures makes me want to run home and make something else with it!  But before I get ahead of myself, I have other items that need to be finished.

Alright, who am I kidding – I can’t concentrate on just one thing at a time.  And I need your help!  I decided that my logo needed a bit of a facelift, and I’ve come up with the following two options:

Logo #1: White Font

or

Logo #2: Black Font

I think I’m leaning more toward option #2 … but I can’t make up my mind.  Let me know which one you like best!

I’m off to finish up a few more projects – until next time!

Valentine’s Day Printables

January 27th, 2010

I’m still working on my first set of Valentine’s gifts (and accompanying pattern!), so I whipped this up last night to share with you in the meantime.  Introducing my first set of printables!

Inspired by this lovely shade of pink, and the font joeHand 2, I’ve created complimentary gift tags, return address labels, note cards, and a special heart image – all perfect for the upcoming holiday!

Tonight I plan to print these out and take photos.  I can’t wait to see how they turn out!  Download the Valentine’s Day Printables for your personal use here:

Enjoy!

Sneak Peak

January 21st, 2010

I don’t have anything fully finished for this week yet, but here is a preview of the new fabrics that I purchased:

Can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on!  And I’m really excited to introduce two patterns, created by me!

Super Cute Baby Shower Gifts!

January 15th, 2010

It’s finally done!  I really need to focus on deadlines for my next project … can’t be getting behind on my new years resolution this early in the year!  But really, this was worth the wait – check it out – the finished baby shower gifts!

Ok, time for a quick recap.  My mom asked me to make baby shower gifts for her friend who is having a baby boy in the next couple of months.  Coincidentally, Sarah was also looking to craft something up for a baby shower (also a boy), so we headed out to the fabric store and picked up some cute prints in the softest flannel.  We decided we were going to make bibs, burp cloths, a blanket, and a changing pad.

First up, the bibs!  Here’s a look at the front:

And the back – such a lovely yellow.

And from the top:

Notice anything new yet?  Keep looking!  I’ll reveal my surprise addition at the end of the post.  Ok, let’s move on to the burp cloths!

That print is so adorable!  Next up is the blanket:

So snuggly!  And the perfect size too.  And finally, we have the changing pad.

I just love baby crafts!  I’m so glad that I got a chance to do these.  If you’d like to give a go at these crafts the tutorials for each piece are listed below:

And if  you’re wondering what my surprise addition is, I’ll tell ya: I finally made Blueprint Crafts fabric tags to attach to completed projects! They make me feel a bit more professional.  I found this great how-to from Patchwork Pottery: Fabric Labels Tutorial.

And before I go, I must introduce you to my new little friend.  As I was taking pictures of the baby items, I came across this little guy:

He’s the Egg Monster, I think he’s my favorite.  I wonder if he’s related to the Eggman?

I obviously need to step away from the coffee and Beatles Rockband!

This weekend I’m attempting to create my first pattern – gasp!  I know! – and also creating some sweet gifts for Valentine’s Day.

Until next time!

I know, I know, I’m late on this week’s post…

January 13th, 2010

But, I promise tomorrow’s post will be WELL worth the wait!

Last night I spent most of my time making up Blueprint labels for all of my upcoming projects, and they turned out so cute!  So cute, in fact, that I decided to make some up for Sarah as well.  Her brand name is now “Sewn by Sarah” – I like it, simple and to the point.  I’m going to try and convince her that she should start a blog of her own too!

So you’re probably wondering what else I did last night instead of finishing up the baby shower project, well let me tell you, I was definitely working hard!  I had to cut out about 14 pieces of cardboard for the baby storage boxes we are making (can’t wait to show you!) and of course I decided to use the thickest cardboard I could find, taking me FOREVER to cut the pieces out.  Oh well, it’s gonna be super cute!

Until I post finished pictures of the baby shower project tomorrow, I’ll reveal a sneak peak of the flannel fabric I chose for the project … it’s for a boy, of course!

Until tomorrow!
