Just wanted to share pictures of the coasters I finished for Emily.
They are going to look great in her new home!
I wish they made these prints in fabric. They would make such a pretty quilt, don’t you think?
So my good friend Emily just moved into her completely redone house a few weeks ago, and she asked me to make her some unique coasters. I love the look of these from Target, but $15? Get real.
For this tutorial, you’ll need a set of tiles – I got a handful from Home Depot for $0.20 a piece, some scraps of scrapbooking paper or any kind of paper really, some mod podge, clear acrylic spray, and felt pads for the bottom.
First, cut and measure you paper to the fit your tile. The tiles I purchased were 4.25″ x 4.25″ so I cut my paper to 4″ squares.
Next, clean and dry your tiles – they are much easier to work with if you clean them off thoroughly. After you have dried them off, apply a thin coat of mod podge to your tiles, place your decorative paper on top and smooth out all bubbles. Allow this to dry for about 15 minutes, then apply 2 – 3 more coats allowing each coat to dry adequately.
After you’ve applied your mod podge top coats, take your tiles out to a well ventilated area and apply two coats of your acrylic spray (I sprayed mine outside in the grass). The acrylic needs only a few minutes between coats to dry, then stick your felt pads on the bottom – one to each corner. And if all goes well, you’ll come up with something like this!
Cute right! And best of all CHEAP! They are a great housewarming party, or hostess gift. And they take very little time and effort – my kind of craft!
Today I’m going to finish up Emily’s – so excited to see how they look in her new house!
And, I’ve got a few big projects that I am STILL working on, and I CAN’T wait to show you all! So stay tuned!

It is obvious that spring is upon us – and I am totally loving this weather! I didn’t have much time to get any crafting done this weekend, but while I was lounging around last night, I put together this little beauty for the front door.
It was really simple to construct, and SUPER cheap! I got two forsythia branches @ $1.50 each, and the wreath for $3.00 both from Michael’s. And using some gold jewelry-making wire, i attached the branches to the wreath, taking about 10 minutes. I think it’s the perfect way to brighten up the front of the apartment!
As summer gets closer, I’ll probably add more flowers in contrasting colors.
What are you doing to ready your home for spring? I would love to see your spring projects – leave me a note with a link and I’ll be happy to share with everyone!
Until next time!
No joke – today, April 1, is my birthday! And I turn 26!
So last month was dedicated to all types of Green projects, which was very fun. But, I do have to admit, towards the end, I was daydreaming about all of the wonderful spring projects that I have stored in the back of my brain and how I could not wait to get to them! But all in all, I really liked the theme thing, so I decided to do a theme again this month! With April being my birthday month, I’m going to do all of my favorite crafts I’ve so patiently put off over the last month … and so this month’s theme is … My Favorite Things! You know, like the Sound of Music (you’re welcome, Sarah – it’s her fave movie, and I really, well, hate it, ha) or you could think of it like how Oprah does her Favorite Things shows (that’s how I like to think about it!).
During the month of April, you can expect some home decorating crafts, jewelry tutorials, and pattern tutorials – I’m finally going to pull out all those lovely clothing patterns I’ve purchased over the last couple of months and get some use out of them! And – I’m hoping to incorporate more giveaways!!! So be sure to keep and eye out, you never know what I might do next!
Moving on – I don’t have any birthday crafts hidden up my sleeve today, but with all of presents that I’ve gotten, I thought I would give a present to my readers as well! Introducing, my April Showers Note Cards!
My new FAVORITE color combination is grey and yellow – perfect for the spring season!
And because April is mostly synonymous with rain (well at least it is here in PA), I decided to go with the April Showers theme, incorporating umbrellas, rain, and rain clouds.
I’m not sure which one is my favorite.
I guess their BOTH my favorite!
And it was SUCH a beautiful day out today, I couldn’t resist taking pictures outside. I love how the colors pop against the grass.
You can download these here and personalize them however you like – but they will only be up for a week! I’ll be taking them down and putting them up in my shop next Thursday!
I hope you all enjoy your day as much as I am! I’ve got a BIG surprise to share with you next time!
Happy April Fool’s Day!
