Ahoy, me Hearties!

August 26th, 2010

My good friend, Monica, is expecting a boy this November and she asked me and two other lovely ladies to host her baby shower.  I L-O-V-E parties and party planning, so I obviously dove right in!  Well, it’s no secret that Monica loves pirates (and secretly thinks she is a pirate!).  Once she announced she was having a boy, it was settled – we would be throwing a pirate themed baby shower!  And the first thing on my to do list was to create unique invitations for the shower.

After several drafts, redos, and some final tweaking, this is what I came up with!

You’re probably thinking, “umm, why is it in three pieces?”  Well, when you stack the three together, and sew a little seam on the left edge, you get …
The cutest booklet invitation you’ve ever seen, of course!  And when you open it up, on the middle page you find all of the party details.
And on the last page, a little map indicating where the party is.
Obviously, the envelopes needed to be just as original as the invitation, so I created these address labels to spice things up.
I’ve created so many original items for this shower, and I can’t wait to share them all with you!  But it will have to wait until the end of September, I don’t want to ruin the surprise!
And since we’re on the subject, if you were hosting a baby shower, what kinds of gifts and prizes would you have for the guests?  And if you were going to host a pirate themed shower, what fun things would you include?  Leave me a comment – I would love to hear your ideas!

How cute! The booklet idea is adorable. I found pirate cupcake liners at Weis the other day, so I bought them. Love the whole theme!

Hey Jordan! They are really cute! The most recent baby shower I went to had the funniest baby games I’ve ever done. The funniest was “Guess the Candybar” – you melt different candy bars in baby diapers – it was kind of icky, but hysterical for everyone to be smelling the ‘poopy diapers’. Another fun one was “Guess the Babyfood” – they had unmarked jars of baby food and we had to taste them all to identify them. Obviously, then, the one who guesses the most right gets the prize. I won the Candybar challenge, haha. Good luck!!

  4. So cute – I love them!
