For Baby Britton

March 28th, 2011

My beautiful roommate from JMU, Crystal, and her husband Chris are due to have a baby girl at the end of May.  They’re naming her Britton, so cute :)  Her baby shower was a couple of weeks ago, so I sent along a few gift for Baby Britton.

The package included my typical round of baby gifts: a blanket, burp cloths, changing pad, and bibs:

Isn’t that fabric adorable?

To make these, here’s a list of tutorials:

I also whipped up a nursing cover and binky leashes:

The tutorial for these can be found on Sew4Home’s website:

Congratulations to Crystal and Chris – so excited to meet Baby Britton!

IKEA: Disney World for Homeowners

March 21st, 2011

So I did it, I took the plunge and visited the Baltimore Ikea to buy my new desk for my craft corner. My best friend, Sarah, and I were able to finagle a free afternoon for our Ikea trip, and us two ‘Ikea virgins’ had no idea what we were getting ourselves into …. turns out Ikea is like Disney World for Homeowners. And we basked in the glory, to the tune of $535 – yup!

We got everything, literally everything, we wanted and more. Just look at the damage we did:

And that’s just the accessories, look at all of the furniture we got!

Then we got everything outside, and realized we might have a slight problem on our hands … I drove my tiny Honda Civic.  I mean, I love my Civic, but I’m not afraid to say that it is the size of a clown car.  Tiny.  And we had to fit all of these boxes, accessories, and ourselves in it for a 1.5 hr drive home…  It was tight, so tight that Sarah had to take the headrest off of her seat to get everything to fit.  Filled to the brim.  But oh so worth it!

I got everything home, and after 2 days of assembly (all by myself, might I add!), this is how the craft corner transformed from crap to A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Here’s what it looked like before, BORING!

First I got the bookshelf in place:

Added the desk and chair:

And finally the accessories!

I JUST LOVE IT!  I can’t wait to get my sewing machine and serger in their cubbies, and the rest of my crafting goodies!

Tune in next time, I’ll be spending the next couple of days adding more decor and personality to this space.

Green on the Brain

March 17th, 2011

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!  I took this picture of Mr. Bruce Wayne last year, and it’s just too cute not to share again :)

And since it’s one of the greenest days of the year, I thought I would give you guys a little sneak peak at what I’ve been working on at home…

I’ve got this small nook-type area in my apartment that over the holidays was a perfect spot for my Christmas Tree.  But now that the holidays are over, this empty space has been calling at me.  It says, ‘Turn me into a craft corner!’  And so, I have decided to do just that.

The last couple of weeks I have been perusing the internet, searching for ‘craft corner’ inspiration.  And then I came across this picture via Martha Stewart (of course):

I decided that I’m going with all white furniture with splashes of green, yellow, aqua and neutral as accents.  It’s no secret that my favorite color is green, so when I saw this I knew it was fate!

I can’t wait to get everything together and share with you all!  Do any of you have a craft corner or room to boast about?  I would love to see pictures, so if you do please share them on my Facebook wall!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all!
