Quick Fabric Tags

June 4th, 2012

Sorry it’s been a little quite around here.  I’ve been distracted this past week, trying to get everything together so I could fully appreciate this:

Go ahead, you can stare at that pic all day and pretend you are here with me :)

But I’ll quit torturing you, and give you a little surprise!  I actually planned ahead (what!?) and have a fun and easy tutorial for you guys!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been getting a ton of emails about my baby gift set that has gone viral on pinterest, mostly with the question of “how do you make your fabric tags?”  Well, I’ve put together a short and sweet tutorial on how to make them!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A sheet of Light T-Shirt Transfer
  • Printer
  • 7/8″ white twill tape
  • Iron

Using Photoshop (you could also use Word or any other text/graphic program), take your logo and shrink it so that it is 1/2″ tall.  Copy and paste several times to fill the page.  Once it’s filled flip the entire graphic so that it reads backwards.  Then print your backwards logos onto a sheet of the transfer paper.

Cut your logos out into strips, trimming as close to the logo as you can.

At your ironing board, turn your iron on to low heat.  Unroll your twill tape and place one of the strips on top of the tape, ink side down.  Iron over top the of transfer paper.  (You can save some time by ironing 2 logo strips side by side at a time.)

Allow to cool, and carefully peel the paper off of the twill tape.

Trim your twill tape – and voila!  Fabric labels for your hand sewn goodies!

I recently made these for a custom order I received for another baby gift set – turned out SO cute!

Isn’t that paisley print adorable!?  Next week, I’ll be revisiting the tutorials on how to make a set like this.

Anyways, I’m off to go play in the sand!  Until next time :)

PS – Have you checked out my facebook page recently?  I’ve been sharing all of the lovely tile coaster pics you guys have been sending me.  Go check it out!  And if you would like me to share pics of your tile coasters, please email me!
