Stylin’ Shorts from Old Navy!

May 15th, 2012

I recently received the opportunity to get a free pair of shorts for myself and a friend from Old Navy in return for blogging about my experience.  Free shorts?  I’m sold!

So last night, my sister and I skipped on over to Old Navy and grabbed some shorts to try on.

They had so many fun colors to choose from!  Here are the ones I picked out (cue the song, “she wears short shorts”).  First up Nantucket Red:

Next up, these awesome yellow plaid.

Navy blue with a tie belt.

Purple ones – perfect for a JMU Homecoming event!
And some khaki’s!
And here were Aubrey’s choices.  First a pair of dark denim:
Black hemmed khakis:
Bermuda shorts:
White cutoffs – clearly not a favorite lol.
Light jean cutoffs – makes you butt look nice apparently!
Classic jean shorts.
And another pair of dark denim cutoffs.
So many choices!  It was a touch decision, but here’s what we went home with!
Light cutoffs for Aubs, and Nantucket Reds for me!
We had so much fun, and now we’re ready for summer and vacay!
I’ll be back later this week with a new post – my friend’s baby shower is this weekend and I’ve got a ton of goodies to share with you!  Until then!
*All comments made in this post are 100% my opinion.  I was not paid by Old Navy to write this post.

Spring Top Sewalong = EXCITING!

March 14th, 2012

Rae, from Made by Rae recently announced the Spring Top Sewalong 2012!!  I’ve been looking for some kind of inspiration to get my butt in gear and start making clothing again – and this is it!

If you’ll recall, I was once part of the ‘Top of the Tops’ with this little ditty:

That was 2 years ago, and I’m ready for this year’s challenge!

To help get my creative juice going, I decided to look at my ‘Lookbook’ Pinterest Board.  It’s compiled of all the lovely and amazing clothes that I see online and would love to someday have in my closet.  This time, I’m looking to make something more sleek.  Possibly something I could wear out for a night on the town!  Here’s a few ideas I like, starting with this brown chambray top:

Or this striped one-shoulder top:

Or this lovely boat neck green top:

Or this super chic twisted cream top:

Or this fab floral:

Or finally, this beautiful coral with sequin trim:

They are all so beautiful – I don’t know which way to go!  What do you guys think?

I’m going to have to raid my fabric stash tomorrow and see what I have to work with.  I’m hoping not to spend any money, but I may just have a few dollars extra to spend for something extra fabulous!

By the way, have any of you made Leprechaun Pies?  I would hear about them, or even see pics!  Post a comment here, or pics to my facebook wall!

Oh, and tomorrow I’ll have another yummy tutorial for you – so check back soon!

First Big Project Complete!

April 9th, 2010

UPDATE! This project was picked to be in the top  60 of Made by Rae’s Top Week 2010!

So I finally finished the project that I’ve been picking up and putting down for soooo long.  And I love love love it!

I told you how Jaron had given me a few shirts to add to the craft collection.  Well, this one I decided to put aside and make something for myself.

I’ve finally grown out of my hatred for plaid since my grade school days (took me long enough) and I just L-O-V-E this tank from Anthropologie, so I decided to tear this baby apart and go for the gold!

This is what I came up with!

My sister Aubrey was nice enough to shoot some pics for me.  She hates this next pic, but I think it is so me, haha.

I couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out!

It fits so perfectly, and I can’t wait for the weather to be warm again so I can wear it out!

When redoing this shirt, I literally ripped the entire thing apart, cut to size and sewed back together.   It probably took me about 4 hours from start to finish – but it was definitely worth it!

And my favorite part is the pleated ruffles.

I can’t wait to bust out more patterns this month and make some clothes!  I think a tunic will be next.

Next time I’ll show you the other BIG project that I’ve been working on.  SO excited to share with you!
