A Quick Hello

November 4th, 2010

Over the past few weeks I have been spending every minute of free time that I have getting ready for my first vendor gig – exciting I know!  But while this gig is a huge step for my little business, my personal life has certainly taken the backseat to my crafting.  And as I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’ve been pretty quiet over here, only having time for quick shout outs on Facebook and Twitter.

I don’t have anything to share with you today (although I will have TONS to share in the upcoming week), but a lot of you have been inquiring about what happened to this adorable dog I picked up on the side of the road a handful of weeks back.  Remember her?

Well, after a good bath, a major haircut, and an overnight stay with me, my family decided to keep her and named her Lucy :)  She’s come so far …

I took a break during work yesterday to take these pics of Brucey and Lucy enjoying the sun shining in through the window.  Aren’t they darling?

As if one camera hog of a dog wasn’t enough :P

I hope to report back soon!

Do you know this dog?

This morning when I was driving to work, I turned right around a corner and saw this ball of fluff running in circles in the middle of the street.  It was pouring down rain, and it was obvious that this little pup lost.  So I pulled over, and this little babe ran up to my car and when I opened the door she jumped right in!  Thank goodness I had a towel in my backseat because she was soaked to the bone.  She doesn’t have any tags, but I found her on McIntosh Road between Colonial Road and Crums Mill Road in Harrisburg, PA.  Anyone out there recognize her?  I would love to return her to her parents!

She’s super sweet and very well behaved.  If you know anything about her, please contact me!

Ahoy, me Hearties!

August 26th, 2010

My good friend, Monica, is expecting a boy this November and she asked me and two other lovely ladies to host her baby shower.  I L-O-V-E parties and party planning, so I obviously dove right in!  Well, it’s no secret that Monica loves pirates (and secretly thinks she is a pirate!).  Once she announced she was having a boy, it was settled – we would be throwing a pirate themed baby shower!  And the first thing on my to do list was to create unique invitations for the shower.

After several drafts, redos, and some final tweaking, this is what I came up with!

You’re probably thinking, “umm, why is it in three pieces?”  Well, when you stack the three together, and sew a little seam on the left edge, you get …
The cutest booklet invitation you’ve ever seen, of course!  And when you open it up, on the middle page you find all of the party details.
And on the last page, a little map indicating where the party is.
Obviously, the envelopes needed to be just as original as the invitation, so I created these address labels to spice things up.
I’ve created so many original items for this shower, and I can’t wait to share them all with you!  But it will have to wait until the end of September, I don’t want to ruin the surprise!
And since we’re on the subject, if you were hosting a baby shower, what kinds of gifts and prizes would you have for the guests?  And if you were going to host a pirate themed shower, what fun things would you include?  Leave me a comment – I would love to hear your ideas!

Vintage Summer Tunic

June 2nd, 2010

For this project, I used some of the vintage linen material that I picked up at the Antique Mall in Hershey, PA and the Peachy Beachy Coverup pattern from Fabric.com.  Originally, I was going to use this coverup as it was intended – for the beach.  But I decided to alter it a little (taking in the sides and arms) and made it more like a tunic – AND I LOVE IT!

When I cut the pattern out, I decided to go with the size 8.  But in the end I wish I had cut the size 6 because I ended up taking it in.  So a note to all those who want to use this pattern – it runs TRUE TO SIZE!

I decided to include Mr. Bruce in this photo shoot – he always adds a little bit of charm to the pictures!

There was a dog in the yard next door, and he just couldn’t be bothered to look at the camera, haha.

And if you look close enough, you can see my new necklace.  This will also be included in my collection (coming in June!).

Like the last time I had a mini photo shoot, my sister, Aubrey, was the one behind the lens.  If you ever need a great photographer I’ll send you her contact information!  I think the one below is my favorite!

And then Bruce quit playing along, and the baby wolf came out!

Haha, what a little wolf!

I’m so excited to share with you what else I’ve been working on!  Until next time!
