So last night, my sister and I skipped on over to Old Navy and grabbed some shorts to try on.

They had so many fun colors to choose from!  Here are the ones I picked out (cue the song, “she wears short shorts”).  First up Nantucket Red:

Next up, these awesome yellow plaid.

Navy blue with a tie belt.

 

The belts are just stunning – and all in almost perfect condition!  I’m going to be adding some more accessories and shoes this weekend – you will die when you see them!

But before I show you some of her prized possessions, I’d like to share a short bio on Rhea:

Rhea Leib was born in 1916 and spent her childhood years in the village of Paxtang, PA where her father was the proprietor of a general store on the main street. She watched that street change from a wide dirt road crowded with horses and wagons into the busy paved thoroughfare of today.

Rhea spent her life in the Harrisburg area and upon her marriage became very involved in Harrisburg society. She was a well known member of both the Harrisburg and Hershey Country Clubs. She was a gourmet cook who loved to entertain. She also loved to shop and bought her fashionable clothes at upscale stores like Mary Sachs, Donecker’s, Fellers and others that have now faded away.

She dressed in style every day whether she was going out on the town or spending time at home, and always wore her trademark high heels. She is still a very fashionable senior lady whose style continues to draw appreciative glances from a much more casual generation.

Today, I decided to clear out all of the winter items I had on our etsy page, Rhea’s Modern Vintage.  And over the next few days I will be uploading spring items – to start, SUNGLASSES!

Well, I like to put the PRO in procrastinator and so I waited until the verrrry last minute to make them.  And when I went to review the tutorial to get an idea of how long it would take me to complete some pops for my friends and family, I knew I wouldn’t have enough time.

Time to put my thinking cap on.  How could I cut the turnaround time for these pops in half?  And then it hit me!

I present to you, the Quick Cake Pop Tutorial!

Ingredients:

• Donut holes – without powder, preferably
• 2 bags of chocolate melts
• Lollipop sticks
• Cookie Sheet
• Wax paper
• Deep bowl (or tall, wide glass)
• Sprinkles
• Clear treat bags (you can find these with the lollipop sticks)
• Yarn
• Scissors

I also bought some oreo cookies to make some chocolate covered cookies.  I use the left over chocolate to dip the oreos halfway :)  Yum!

Directions:

In a small dish, melt a handful of chocolates in the microwave (30 second intervals, stirring in between).  Take your lollipop sticks and dip them in the chocolate, then insert into the donut holes.  Set them aside on a cookie tray covered with wax paper.  Put your assembled donut holes and sticks in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes.  This is a crucial step!  Freezing the pops will help adhere the sticks to the donut holes and make it MUCH easier to dip into the chocolate.

While your pops are in the freezer, take about half of a bag of chocolate and melt it in a deep bowl (or tall wide glass) via the microwave, same way you did before.  Remove your pops from the freezer and like Kristen’s directions: dip, swirl, tap!

And instead of placing them in styrofoam to dry, I just plopped them down on the wax paper-covered cookie sheet!

After about every 5 pops, make sure you add sprinkles.  Otherwise, the chocolate might dry and the sprinkles won’t stick.

Once the chocolate is completed hardened, place the pop in a treat bag and fasten with yarn – voila!

I was able to make about 50 pops in less than an hour!  The pops with the white yarn were white donut holes.  The pops with the red yarn were devil food cake donut holes … they were DELISH!

If you have green food coloring leftover from making Leprechaun Pie – it would be perfect to color white chocolate and make cake pops as a last minute dessert for St. Patrick’s Day!  Enjoy!

To help get my creative juice going, I decided to look at my ‘Lookbook’ Pinterest Board.  It’s compiled of all the lovely and amazing clothes that I see online and would love to someday have in my closet.  This time, I’m looking to make something more sleek.  Possibly something I could wear out for a night on the town!  Here’s a few ideas I like, starting with this brown chambray top:

I’m going to have to raid my fabric stash tomorrow and see what I have to work with.  I’m hoping not to spend any money, but I may just have a few dollars extra to spend for something extra fabulous!
